Download The Dawn-Breakers

I have made a downloadable version of "The Dawn-Breakers" available so that whoever wants to can browse the pages of this work without having to connect to the net. You will simply go to Netscape or Internet Explorer, or whatever you use, and go to "The Dawn-Breakers" from there. I'll explain the details later. Of course it would be nicer to read the book itself, but if you do not have a copy available, and do not want to spend exorbitatnt amounts of time or money reading it online, then you can download it here.

I would be very happy to personally assist you with any problems you might encounter. Please e-mail me for help!

Now, this work has 700 pages, and many pictures. Understand that the resulting space taken up by the files, once "unzipped," will be around 20 Megabytes. You'll probably want to make sure that you have something like 25 Mb free space on your hard drive before installing this, depending on your system. The .zip file (or .sea for the Macintosh) is about 8 Mb, something like downloading Netscape, so you can expect it to take a while!

Before you download, I would suggest you make a special directory/folder for the files you are about to download. Make it something easy to remember, like: C:\DAWN (or for the Macintosh: create a folder somewhere called "DAWN"). Now go ahead and download DAWN.zip for the PC or DAWN.sea for the Macintosh. You will be asked to save the file on your computer, and you will have to specify where you want to store it. Select the folder/directory you want to save it to (for instance: C:\DAWN) and click on OK so that the computer can start downloading the files.

Now you just have to wait until it finishes downloading. When it's done, go to the folder where you instructed the computer to place the file you just downloaded, DAWN.zip or DAWN.sea. Double-click the file icon to unzip/uncompress it. Macintosh users: I recommend Stuffit or Stuffit Lite to uncompress DAWN.sea. I have tested all this on a Mac and it worked, so there shouldn't be a problem. For PCs I would HIGHLY recommend a zip program called WinZip. If you don't have a zip program, then go to http://www.winzip.com/ and follow their links to one of the evaluation versions of WinZip. You can download one of those and use it to "unzip" the Dawnbreakers file, DAWN.zip. And the evaluation packages are of course free. Now, assuming that you have a zip program installed, you double-click DAWN.zip. This should bring up a WinZip (or whatever zip program you're using) screen, showing the files contained in DAWN.zip. Without clicking on any of these files, extract them by clicking on the button that says "extract" or selecting the extract option from one of the drop-down menus at the top. You will be asked where you want to put the extracted files. Just tell the computer to put them in C:\DAWN. The computer will create a directory called "Cvoogt" within C:\DAWN\ so that the path will be C:\DAWN\Cvoogt, and within that directory will be all the files needed to use the Dawnbreakers.

Once you've okayed it and the files have been successfully placed where you asked them to go, you can browse "The Dawn-Breakers" offline by going to the C:\DAWN\Cvoogt\ directory, and finding the file entitled "index.html." Double-click this, and wait for Netscape, or whatever browser you're using, to load. Then the main page of the Dawnbreakers should appear just as you're used to seeing it online, with the exception of the search function and the online discussion forum. An easier way to get to it is to first open Netscape like you ususally do, and then choose File from the drop-down menus at the top. There should be an option there to "Load File" or "Open File." You can then go to C:\DAWN\Cvoogt\ and select "index.html." Hit OK and there's the Dawnbreakers!

Make sure to bookmark the main page when you get to it, so that it'll be easier for you in the future to get to it again.
